Should you paint dark wood paneling a light colour when staging 4 sale

Staging in Toronto and Vaughan we come across many homes that have dark wood paneling installed in libraries, family rooms and dining rooms.

We know that in current magazines rooms are typically shown with the wall paneling painted a light colour. So as much as the home owners want to keep the dark paneling we know we have to suggest that it be painted a light colour to attract buyers.

Here is our latest home with wood paneling in the dining room and foyer which we have painted OC 28 Collingwood by Benjamin Moore.

The verdict is in and....

It was staged and SOLD IN 5 DAYS!

Investment, minimal.

Impact, priceless.

I've suggested painting woodwork far too often to count....when they do it, it's never disappointed.  I wish they would all do it, but you always get some who just won't paint wood!

I have to agree withyou Sharon. My father is a carpenter and almost faints every time I say that I'm painting wood! The thing is, buyers want wood painted these days. To get your house sold you need to update the wood paneling to get your house on the buyers must see list.
