All I did was....Home Staging Success Stories

What do you do with the "old piano" when you are staging a house?

Staging in Vaughan and the Toronto GTA we come across our fair share of homes that have an old piano where  the sellers don't know what to do with it.

Either the piano hasn't been played in years and is there for sentimental reasons only or it is played but it really could use a style update to fit in to the design look of today.

Here is a super idea we suggest to the sellers if they are not donating it or selling it before the house goes on the market. We prefer to show space in a room to potential buyers but you are going to love the transformation a bit of chalk paint can provide.

Chalk paint is easy to use, you don't need to sand the furniture first. Afterward seal it with a rub of bees wax or a coat of linseed oil.

This piano was featured in Style at Home Magazine and shows how updated a piano can look.

The little white fur rug added to the bench for a soft landing is sold at your local Walmart or Homesense.

Investment, minimal.

Impact, priceless.

Sadly there are so many piano's in my area that are in basements that have not been pllayed in 20 years or more and no one wants them

Hello Michelle. I had an old bar piano I loved once. It didn't fit in my next place so off it went.

This is a great idea Michelle Finnamore!   We see our fair share of old upright pianos too ... they don't make the same dramatic design statement that a grand piano does, but if the seller is unable to sell or donate their piano prior to listing, painting it is a great idea.

Michelle- I love the look of it!!! What a great idea. I've had several sellers who didn't want to part with their piano even though they didn't play it.
