All I did was....Home Staging Success Stories

Do Deer Heads Mounted count as Staging props?

We have all been confronted with mounted animal heads in our work as Home Stagers.

Do you leave them up or take them down?  I have encounterd a horse's head mounted on a bedroom door. A little disconcerting when you are not expecting it. Shades of the Godfather if you know what I mean.

This property in Barrie had a very small one mounted in the living room but it did come down in the final decluttering during the Staging. Although the homeowner was not very happy about it, I let him know that it would look lovely in his new home.

Advantage Staging will market the features of your property every time to stand out from the competition.

This property is now SOLD!

Investment, minimal.

Impact, priceless.

No, not in the House.  it took my sister in law years to get the animal heads from the living room to the den. then to the study now they are in the garage/gameroom, where they should be! The staging looks great! big difference the room!

Michelle, The deer heads appear as though they were stuffed in the corner because the homeowner couldn't find a suitable spot.

If the deer heads were in a cabin in Montana, maybe.  Considering that some people are opposed to deer hunting, the seller may be excluding potential buyers from purchasing the home.

The room certainly looks a lot better since it has been de-cluttered, the table moved and yes, the deer heads packed.

Hi Crystal and Leolinda,

I live in an area that hunting is a big thing. People don't show up for work when moose hunting season opens or for that matter any fishing season!

I do believe in putting them away though as many people do object to the idea and of course we want to market to the most people.

Never really thought about the pros and cons of deer heads in staging a house. I have one in my family room and we were thinking of putting our house on the market. It maybe best to move it because we don't live in the west but the south...

I thought I would mention this as you cannot really see it clearly in the photograph.
The three  legs of the side table by the lazy boy chair are actually made out of wood in the shape of rifles. Really.  If you are into the hunting lifestyle it was quite eye catching.

Never seen any taxidermy in any of the houses we have staged but if we did, it would definately come down as there are a lot of people who are offended by hunting.  When staging, go the safe route and appeal to the majority.  I don't think anyone WOULD be offended if there wasn't a deer head up.

HI Lisa,

I think you are right about that. I can't think of any situation where someone would say, you know... I think this place would look fabulous with a deer head right there.  ;)

Lacy curtains, a floral sofa, and a deer scalp? Which of these things is not like the others? Sorry, it just reminded me of a show my kids used to watch! Big improvement, nice job!
