All I did was....Home Staging Success Stories

What to do when the tiles in the bathroom are a "little different"

When Staging a property for sale it is safe to say that if the tiles in a bathroom are in good condition, the homeowner is probably not in the market  to hear that the tiles are of a personal choice and a "little different" than what the average person would choose.

I personally loved this tile so I decided to enhance the lines in the tile by adding textured towels, florals with lined, textured leaves and a large piece of artwork that carried on the textural feeling combined with the same colour theme of green.

As you can see the results are dramatic and draw you in to the bathroom to find that there is a sunken bathroom to your right. This property in Bond Head has "WOW" written all over it.

Advantage Staging will market your property to stand out from the competition every time.

This property is now SOLD!

Investment, minimal.

Impact, priceless.

Wow! I love the way this turned out. This is the sort of room that seperates out the good stagers from the bad ones.

Do you give a buyer to a home the option of buying a given print if they really like the way it looks in a room?

HHMMMM, I've never seen this.  But I don't think it looks bad.  I could show you bad or interesting to say the least.  lol.  You did a great job.  At least this is neutral!!

Thank you for all the positive comments. Yes, I always sell the artwork if I know that I can replace the piece easily. That particular piece is from Ikea. I use it when Staging my exercise rooms as well.

Great job staging, the tile is unusual and not one I would choose for myself, it is attractive in this setting.

Sometimes the most challenging rooms end up being the most perfect rooms.

It's a kind of Staging nirvana when it happens.

Michelle- I think you showed that what can't be changed, can at least be improved! Those tiles don't look like a negative anymore! Great job!

I kind of like them, too. At least the other surfaces were neutral. Nice job.

Hi Michelle-Those tiles look fine to me.  I was expecting much worse.  They are neutral enough to work with quite easily actually. You are lucky in your area if this is as bad as it gets! LOL... Adding the artwork certainly broke up the blankness of that wall.  Did they have anything there before?  Good job keeping it clean looking! Regards-Kathleen G

Hi Kathleen,

The only item that was on the wall was an 18" wreath made of eucalytus leaves. It was not to scale in such a large bathroom and looked out of place. I always so go big and make a statement.

Michelle - I like thiose tiles too, and you used my favorite piece of art that you have - where is it from???  Julie

Michelle, You did a great job with the texture and artwork.. That tile is not too bad but like you said, different.. It might have been a turn off before you staged !! God bless,

Hi Julie,

The artwork is from Ikea. $99 aad worth every penny.

Hi Cheryl, The texture is what made it all work. I am usually a smooth finish girl, but I knew the textured pieces were the way to go here. I actually quite liked the tile. The walls were 9 feet high and tiled all the way to the top. A little too much tile for some. That's why I thought it might be an issue with buyers.

Hi Tori Lynn, I was blessed that the entire room had white fixures. The master was also a study in white. Absolutely fabulous when I got there to Stage. Both the master and ensuite needed texture added to all that white to make it come alive.

Michelle - wow is right!  That is a perfect way to tie the room together - the tiles look very chic and custom now!  Great job.

They are not what we would call "neutral" but the colour is quite soft and very fresh, which goes with the white and greenery that we usually use when staging a bathroom to create that serene feel.  Adding the accessories you did enhanced that look.   Nice photo's

Hi Lisa, I agree. The artwork was really the one deciding thing that pulled this look together. The towels had been placed along with the florals but it was when the artwork was hung that the look was complete. Thank you Ikea.

Michelle ~ You made that bathroom look so fresh and soft. The plant along with the artwork looks great. Those tiles are different, but they do look very sharp. Thanks for sharing.

Well as Olympia Dukakis said in the movie, Steel Magnolias, "The power of a woman comes from her ability to exfoliate, and accessorize."

Interesting tile, I like the way you mimicked the the tile with the plant.

Hi Cindy, thank you for noticing. The details make or break a successful staging job don't they?

Posted by Michelle Finnamore (Advantage Staging - Home Staging in Vaughan and Woodbridge) over 3 years ago

Wow Michelle,

You did a great job with going with what you've got. Everything you did looks great w/ the tile. The plant, print, towels, and the candle sticks w/ the natural feel all compliment the tiles nicely. Now that a sure sign of a good stager!
