All I did was....Home Staging Success Stories

What does your mirror reflect? Is it worth looking at or is it a distraction?

When placing a mirror please take time to check what the mirror is reflecting.

In this property in Alliston, it was the stair railing opposite the mirror. As you could see this focal point from the front foyer it was not a very enticing view. It is also not considered to be good feng shui when the refection is not a good view.

I Staged the room by replacing the  mirror with a piece of metal artwork and the focal point improved dramatically.

The only thing left to do was to remove the swag valance and the look was complete.

Advantage Staging will market your property to stand out from the competition every time.

Investment, minimal.

Impact, priceless.

Michelle - Your after picture is gorgeous; warm and inviting!  The reflections in mirrors is something that definitely needs to be considered whether staging an occupied home or vacant home.  Your solution is perfect.

Congratulations.  Your post is being featured in the group; Staging Before & AFter Pictures.

Michelle - it floors me to see the space afterwards.  Completely different!  You changed ONE thing.  Amazing.

Michelle, the replacement of the mirror was well done.  What really screams out here though is the power of great photography.  I love the after photo.  It looks like it could be from a magazine.

Hi Kathy, What an honour to be featured in the Before and Afters. Thank you.

Hi Leesa, I don't know if you ever saw a movie with Billy Crystal called City Slickers, where he was having a mid life crisis.

They played city boys who went out to the country on a trail ride and met up with an old cowboy, Jack Palance, who told them life was always about just one thing.  The old guy  put up his index finger but wouldn't tell Billy Crystal what the one thing was. He would have to figure it out for himself.  Well this is a great example of that.

Hi Marina, You made me blush. I was disappointed with the photo as I didn't think I had captured enough of the room. I think this is what they call a "money shot" in Real Estate lingo.

Michelle, you raise a very good point.  I staged a very small condo that had mirrors on almost every wall and even one behind the kitchen sink.  The owner read that you should use mirrors in small spaces and she took that VERY SERIOUSLY!  I love the look of a mirror but will make sure I look at what it is reflecting before I decide on placement.  Thanks for a great post.

Hi Anita, a little feng shui knowledge can be a dangerous thing for the novice to implement on their own. Mirrors used in the proper context can work in your favour.

So much better and what a good point.  You did a great job with changing the mirror, it makes so much sense.

The room looks beautiful.

HI Joyce, I don't often put a mirror above a fireplace as I find they typically do not reflect anything that is appealing. Artwork and large accent pieces are the way to go I find. the larger the better in my estimation.

Hi Michelle,

I agree - and just posted a similar post the week before yours on "Mirror Mirror on The Wall, Why do You Reflect Nothing at All" - and got some good feedback.

I also got an email today from a feng shui peson that had some interesting tips related to mirrors! Who knew it was not just about the reflection of ourselves to make sure our hair looks good!

Hi Jennie, I will check out your blog for sure. I also read a feng shui blog on AR. I learn so much from my AR friends. :)
