In this example I would like to show Realtors and Homeowners how to create a "gift wrapping room" where none existed before. To create more perceived value and space in a property, I suggested to the homeowner that a "gift wrapping" room was created. Everyone wants one, but hardly anyone has one.
I suggested that an unused portion of the basement be Staged into a gift wrapping centre.
Using an existing table and chair from Ikea and gift wrapping materials, this is the result. The homeowner purchased the peg board for under $ 10.00.
My client is the star here. I gave her a suggestion during the consultation and this is what she came up with.
Advantage Staging will market your property to stand out from the competition every time.
Investment, minimal.
Impact, priceless.

very clever Michelle!
What a great idea Michelle. That part of the basement was a nothing before your suggestion took root. Looks fabulous. Betty
HI Karen, I wish I had one of these rooms!!!
HI Betty, It really is a shame that most of us do not think to utilize the space in our homes efficiently. This proprety for sale now has a gift wrapping centre, a work shop, a play area for the children with a sitting room for mum and visiting mummy friends to be where the children are playing. All of these ideas were mentioned on the consultation and were implemented by the homeowner in advance of my arriving to Stage the property. Truly an transformation from a bare basement with unused space to one of extra rooms to sell to potential buyers. Another Staging success story.
That idea is just too cute!

Great idea Michelle!
HI Michelle, I tell you I had goosebumps when the client took me downstairs to show me what she had accomplished. This is a great example of the client believing in the Staging idea that you are selling space and light in your property. No matter how big your house is, you always want to make it look bigger. This property is actually a 3500 square foot house but now, after Staging, it looks like there is even more room in it. Buyers can see how they could live in the home.
Hi Michele, Let me know if you use this idea in an upcoming property. I'd love to see the results. Please show this to your clients for inspriration! :)
Michelle - very nice, certainly adds some color to a drab environment
Great work from a creative and great staging mind, ( I know as I sat next to you for a couple of days, huh? I hope some of it rubbed off). Nice job and it's always the reward when they take the ideas and run with them, isn't it? Well have a great week, be talking to you.
HI Mike, absolutely right. Why leave the basement bare when you can add a little bit of lifestyle?
Hey Terrylynn, nice to hear from you. I do swear I have the best clients in the world! They are always inspired to try out the ideas I come up with. Thank you for the kind words regarding my staging. :) It was a pleasure to spend a few days with you.
WHAT IS A BASEMENT? Just kidding...we don't have them here in Texas, but I am originally from Kansas where everyone has one. Great use of space. We have to utilize this kind of idea as an extra use in an office area or extra room. But love the set-up. This is something most all women dream of having I think.
Hi Sherry, don't know if you have ever seen the Pee Wee Herman Movie called Pee Wee's Big Adventure but someone steals his bicycle and he goes to a card reader. The card reader tells him that she can "see it in the basement of the Alamo".
I can hear you laughing from here.
For those that don't know, there are no basements in Texas and especially no basements at the Alamo!!! LOL!!!!
Just in case you are wondering, Pee Wee faints when he arrives there and finds out there is no basement. And yes, he did get his bicycle back. His best friend stole it and it was at his house. :)
Sorry to spoil the ending if you decide to rent the movie.
This is a clever idea and for those without basements, could probably be done in an attic too (as long as it has standing room!)
Hi Maureen, now that is an idea that I had never thought of. In my area we don't use our attics. When people open up their attics we always think that is a pretty cool renovation and is usually done for the children for a play room.
Great idea - thinking outside the box! We have some basements and lots of attics, though most don't have enough room to convert into usablespace. Could be turned into a scrap-booking space as well.
Hi Debbie, That's another great use. My sister in law scrapbooks and I see how much room it takes up in the house and how organizing it would be a good idea.
