Colin and Justin meet Michelle Finnamore at the Toronto Gift Show

It was a HUGE pleasure to meet Colin and Justin, design duo and very loveable TV stars, at the Toronto Gift Show today. You can see I was tickled pink to be able to see my two favourite fellas wearing their kilts. They even let me look in their sporrans. I won't say what was inside!

I wished them well while staying in Canada and continued success with their TV shows that help homeowners get their properties updated.

Their show is fun to watch. I love the end segment where they watch the follow up video from the homeowners.

Hi Richard, These are two fun loving guys. They had us in stitches. Our faces were sore from smiling so much. They exude positive energy and are very down to earth. It was a chance meeting and they took the time to speak with us and let us have our photo taken with them even though they were on a schedule and on their way somewhere else. True gentlemen.

That's really neat Michelle.  Those two are so funny.  I bet they are just the same in person.  Great picture!

HI Charlene, Yes they are exactly the same in person. when speaking with them you felt like you had known them for years. No pretense with these boys. They are the real deal!

HI Heather, I don't know about Edmonton but they do live in Toronto now so I hope to see them around town. It's been 3 days since I bumped into them and I am still smiling when I think about meeting them!

Michelle, it looks like you had a great time with them.... I think they are slightly nuts (and maybe that's why I like them, cause I've got a screw loose myself LOL) ...  they crack me up. :)

The guys were in Vancouver BC last year at the Home and Garden Show,  this was just before they decided to pick on my and the pashmina green scarf I was wearing... It was fun though, everyone had a good laugh.  Including my Dad, who I dragged to the show!

Michelle, so that's what you were talking about.  Actually you have a great smile, and i"ve never seen it bigger.  Cute photo and would make a wonderful postcard for clients

HI Helen, Sylvie and Kym, These two guys are the most entertaining people. They say what is on their mind and make you laugh while they are letting you know that you really need to update your decor. They have a unique way of expressing their design philosophy that has the people of the world as their fans.  I am so glad they have several TV shows. I think the most informative one was the series where they gave you the list of what and what not to do when selling your home.

The most provocative was the series where they went to one of England's many "infamous" estates to renovate and improve the living quarters and the common grounds.  They hoped the end result would inspire the residents to take more pride and responsiblilty in their  community.  (An estate is where low income families live and suffer through inner city problems)

It made you think and I believe showed their mettle in perserving through this emotional journey.

Hy Kym,

Colin and Justin were at the gift show promoting their latest book and signing copies. I happened to see them on their way to that event which was taking place much later that evening. Unfortunately I was not able to get one of the books as I had not pre-registered at the event. It was a last minute decision to attend the show when a couple of other Stagers asked me if I was going to the show. You know me, always up for an adventure. And what an adventure it turned out to be!  This goes to prove the old adage that you have to get out and mingle. You just never know who you will meet and how they may make a difference in your world.  You and Terrylynn fall into that category for me. Wait until you see what we can accomplish in Toronto!

HI Terrylynn, You are an idea factory! That is a fabulous suggestion about the postcard and one that I will use. When speaking with my clients since last week  I suggest they check out my blog to get an idea of my work and of course my photo with Colin and Justin. Great feedback  so far so I will look into the postcard idea for sure.

sorry to comment so late but i just wanted to say that these guys were so unbelievably patient with my wife who was just about to pop that I will never forget their generosity.  The coolest guys in town and I for one bow to their gentlemanliness, however you spell it!

Thanks guys and we hope to see you again,

Jim

Hi Marge and Jim,

I couldn't agree more. They are so humble and appreciate their fans. They still can't believe how popular they are here in Canada. Apparently we are their biggest supportors. Could it be our dry Canadian humour resonates with their dry Scottish humour?

Lucky you!!!  What a fabulous photo and what fun for you!!!

HI Cathy Lee,  I still smile when I think about it and it's been over a week. They just exude an awesome design mogo that transmits through the TV screen and is magical when you are that close to them. You always wonder what makes one person excell over another and I think it is this energy that they have.

What the heck is a sporran? and you HAVE to let us know what was inside...

Posted by Karen Otto, Home Stager, Plano, TX 469)964-0516 www.homestarstaging.com (Home Star Staging) about 1 year ago

HI Dinah, thanks for stopping in to see me giggling like a school girl when I met Colin and Justin. I agree, they are two great personalities to promote staging and design.

Hi Karen,a sporran is the pouch they carry in front on their kilt. In the olden days, a man would carry his personal things here (money) as well as something from past male family members if they were going into battle. That way, if they died during battle, they would have a piece of their family with them.

Inside Colin and Justin's sporran, well it was as to be expected. Cell phone, cash, keys etc. Just like in the old days, personal items that you wouldn't want to leave home without.

I swear to god these two make my life awesome.  Along with my wife we love all their shows and their humour is outstanding.  Totaly wish they would come to my place but never mind, they're best designers on box and I watch and enjoy them all the time for their skill and comedy.  Now who else can give that?  They will probably end up doing Oprah or something and then whizzed further across the globe but whatever happens they have touched my life and my wife's,

Big hugs Angus and Jayne xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoox

Hi Angus and Jayne, I totally agree with you. It is partly due to Colin and Justin why I decided to be a  Home Stager.  I liked their approach to work, have fun while all around you Rome is burning! :)   I love bringing an idea together and working with each challenge as it comes along.

Michelle,

How fun was that day for you?  Were you hesitant about approaching them, or did you just run up and act giddy? Looks and sounds like you had a great time!
